When researchers at New York University compared sleeping patients that dream with sleeping patients that didn’t, they found that the former told more elaborate, vivid, and bizarre stories.

They concluded that dreams affect our imaginations, triggering our minds with new sparks of creativity.

Indeed, when you dream, your right brain, the one specifically related to imagination, is stimulated by dopamine, which can freely create new connections without the filter of other more stable hormones.

The result is more fluid, distant, and rapid associations between ideas, which promote more visual, metaphorical, and imaginative thinking.

Dr.Deidre Barett in her book The Committee of Sleep describes a method to incubate your problems in your dreams by using their creative force.

The idea is to encourage post-dream states, where the brain can make more unexpected syntheses and increase its problem-solving skills.

Here are 4 steps to train your brain to stay in this state and find a new lucidity in your reflections!

1. Focus Your Attention on a Specific Problem
