The organic process of creation and the artist’s legacy

Creation is a process that we always try to tame, control and anticipate.

Yet, it is an event that has always been unpredicted, since it brings a novelty that by definition exceeds our current understanding, our own will or prediction.

In that respect, we might consider the products of art and of men as similar as the products of a new biological diversity : the creation of a artistic work can be regarded as a random mutation that changes the course of evolution.

In the same way that biological mutations are generated from one another by sudden leaps, in the history of art works are generated from one another.

A Darwinian view over art history shows that the legacy of artists follows a strange connection that runs through space and time.
